Rane Leads Pirates After 36 Holes at Penn State

STATE COLLEGE, PA. – Junior Renee Rane (New Delhi, India) is currently 9-over-par to lead the Seton Hall women's golf team through two rounds of the Nittany Lion Invitational on Sunday.

Rane had a 9-over-par, 81, in the morning, but used four birdies to shave off nine strokes in the afternoon for an even-par, 72. She's currently tied for 41st place among 90 individual golfers with a 9-over-par, 81-72-153.

As a team, The Hall shot a 30-over-par, 318, in round one, and improved five strokes in round two for a 25-over-par, 313. With 18 holes remaining, the Pirates are in 16th place with a 55-over-par, 318-313-631. Yale is the current team leader at 5-over-par. BIG EAST competitors Georgetown and St. John's are 33-over-par and 35-over-par respectively.

Freshman Isabella Stewart (Wicklow, Ireland) shot a 9-over-par, 81, in round one, and was three strokes better in the afternoon with a 6-over-par, 78. She's currently 15-over-par with an 81-78-159.

Anne-Sofie Ekman (Copenhagen, Denmark) also improved in her second round. She shot a 12-over-par, 84, in round one, followed by a 7-over-par, 79, in round two. She's currently 19-over-par with an 84-79-163. Only two strokes behind Ekman was junior Kasumi Tran (Swansea, Wales). Tran is 21-over-par with an 81-84-165.

Sophomore Marta Aguilar (Casares Malaga, Spain) was only 3-over-par after round one, but withdrew in the second round due to injury.

In addition to Seton Hall and host Penn State, the field is comprised of 14 other teams including: Akron, Albany, Bucknell, Delaware, Duquesne, Maryland, Navy, Pennsylvania, Quinnipiac, Rollins College, Towson and Yale. Â Â BIG EAST competitors Georgetown and St. John's are also among the field.

Teams will play five golfers and count the four lowest scores per round.
