NEW YORK – Seton Hall's Sadie Reich (Wantagh, N.Y.) was named BIG EAST Women's Volleyball Freshman of the Week on Monday.
Reich is Seton Hall's first BIG EAST Freshman of the Week since current teammate Rylee Nelson won the award on Aug. 28, 2023.
Â
In a breakout season so far, Reich may have had her best efforts of the season last weekend at the Maryland Invitational. The freshman led the BIG EAST Conference with 6.00 kills per set and 6.79 points per set in a split of matches against Maryland and Coppin State. On Friday against host Maryland, Reich had a career-high 23 kills to go with six digs. The 23 kills is the highest total for any Seton Hall player this season. On Saturday, she flirted with a triple-double, collecting a match-high 19 kills, only three attack errors, a .319 attack percentage, six digs and a career-best seven blocks.
Â
Creighton's Ava Martin was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, while Connecticut's Audrey Rome earned Defensive Player of the Week. Marquette's Isabela Haggard was named Setter of the Week. Members of the Weekly Honor Roll include Creighton's Kiara Reinhardt, Marquette's Natalie Ring, Providence's Hadley Pride, St. John's Erin Jones and Xavier's Macy Hatkevich.
Â
Seton Hall will return to action this weekend when it returns to historic Walsh Gymnasium to open BIG EAST Conference play against Georgetown. Match time is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
