Staton-McCray Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

NEW YORK – Graduate student guard AJ Staton-McCray (Delray Beach, Fla.) has been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, the conference announced Monday.
Staton-McCray scored 20 points and knocked down four 3-pointers in Saturday's 71-67 defeat at No. 6 UConn. He lit a fire in the second half for the Pirates, who at one point held an eight point lead inside of 10 minutes to play in the game. Staton-McCray scored 15 of his 20 points and nailed three 3-pointers in the second half. Over his last five games, Staton-McCray is averaging 15.4 ppg and shooting 44 percent from the floor.
Staton-McCray and the Pirates wrap up the regular season with a pair of games this week. They travel to Xavier on Tuesday night (7 p.m., truTV) before heading home to face St. John's on Senior Night on Friday (9 p.m., FS1).
