PITTSBURGH – Senior Jacob De Jesus (Bridgewater, N.J.) is 1-under-par through two rounds and has lifted the Seton Hall men's golf team to an eighth-place standing entering Tuesday's final round of the RedHawk Invitational.

De Jesus was nearly flawless in round one, using three birdies and 14 pars to fuel a 1-under-par, 70. In round two, he had three more birdies in route to an even-par, 71. He's the top Pirate competitor for the tournament and tied for 16^th place with a 1-under-par, 70-71-141.

Miami's Jack Callahan and Richmond's Quin Polin are currently tied for the individual lead at 8-under-par.

As a team, The Hall shot a 1-under-par, 283, in round one, and followed it up with a 2-over-par, 286, in round two. Entering Tuesday's final round, the Pirates are in eighth place with a 1-over-par, 283-286-569.

Ball State is the current team leader at 11-under-par. BIG EAST competitor, Butler, is third at 4-under-par.

Sophomore Blake Goodnight (Dallas, Texas) and Luke Nolan (Austin, Texas) are currently tied for 21^st place among 84 individual golfers at even-par with a 142.

Goodnight had three birdies and 12 pars in round one to fuel an even-par, 72. In round two, he had one less birdie, but also one less bogey and shot even-par for a second-straight round. Nolan had two birdies and 15 pars in round one to fuel a 1-under-par, 70. In the afternoon, he had 15 pars again, but settled for a 1-over-par, 72.

Junior Will Hennessee (Tulsa, Okla.) shot a pair of 1-over-par, 72's, on Monday. Four birdies fueled his round in the morning, and an eagle on the par-5, No. 3 hole was the catalyst in round two. He's currently tied for 36^th place with a 2-over-par, 72-72-144.

Rounding out the Pirates' lineup, freshman Dylan Holmes (Wicklow, Ireland) is 5-over-par with a 75-72-147. The rookie had three birdies in both rounds on Monday.

Competing as an individual, Isaiah Williams (Flemington, N.J.) is tied with Goodnight and Nolan for 21^st overall at even-par. After a 4-over-par, 75, in round one, the senior carded his career-best effort in round two. Thanks to seven birdies, Williams shot a 4-under-par, 67, in the afternoon.

THE COURSE:
What started as a three hole course on the H.C. Frick property in 1895, to today's 18 hole layout complete with unparalleled practice facilities and course conditions, the story of golf at the Pittsburgh Field Club is ever changing.

The original design of the golf course at its present day location was done by Alexander H. Findlay and was constructed by Fred Pickering. Many of the original holes or parts of the original holes are still in use today; however, some of his original holes like the 600 yard par 6 #12 played to an island green followed by "Gibraltar", a 165 yard par 3 with its green perched on top of a sharp cliff have gone away.

Since that time, the golf course and property have undergone numerous changes. Properties were purchased that are now the practice area as well as the current #11 and #12 holes. Modifications to the golf course have been done by Donald Ross, Albert (A.W.) Tillinghast, Willie Park Jr., Emil Loeffler & John McGlynn, Robert Trent Jones, Arthur Hills, Craig Schreiner, Tripp Davis, and Keith Foster which have created the layout that exists today.

THE FIELD:
In addition to Seton Hall and host Miami (Ohio), the field includes 13 other schools: Ball State, Bowling Green State, Cleveland State, Dayton, LSU, Loyola (Md.), Notre Dame, Oakland, Ohio University, Richmond, Robert Morris and VCU. Fellow BIG EAST opponent, Butler, is also in the field.

THE FORMAT:
Teams will play five golfers and count the four lowest scores per round.
