Griffin, who shares the award with Mike Sweetney of Georgetown, earns the honors for the fourth consecutive week, which is a new conference record.
The 6-9 freshman forward averaged 20.5 points, 11.5 rebounds and 6.0 blocks in the Pirates' 1-1 week. Griffin notched the first triple-double in Seton Hall history with 21 points, 12 rebounds and 10 blocked shots in the win over Norfolk State before suffering a knee injury. He started the Pirates' game at #9 Illinois and responded with 20 points and 11 rebounds for his sixth consecutive double-double.
Lane, a 6-4 junior guard, averaged 23.6 points, 8.3 rebounds and 4.5 assists on the week. He scored 16 points in the Norfolk State game and then tied his career-high with 31 points against Illinois. Lane shot 7-for-14 from three-point range in that contest while also grabbing eight rebounds.
Lane leads the Pirates in scoring with 23.0 points per game. Griffin is averaging 21.8 points per game, to go along with 13.2 rebounds and 5.5 blocks, the best numbers in the nation.
Seton Hall, now ranked ninth by AP with a 5-1 record, hosts Penn on Wednesday evening, December 13, at Continental Airlines Arena. Tipoff is 9 p.m. for the nationally-televised game on ESPN2.
