Swimming and Diving Falls to Connecticut

STORRS, CONN.-- The Seton Hall swimming and diving teams lost to Connecticut on Saturday at Wolff Zackin Natatorium. The men (1-3) lost 177-103, while the women (0-3) were defeated 185-110.

The women were led by senior Ashley Johnston (Windsor, Conn.) with three victories. Johnston placed first in the 100 butterfly (57.35), the 50 butterfly (26.62), and the 400 individual medley (4:30.28). In addition, sophomore Trudy Wojciehowski (Fair Haven, N.J.) earned two second place finishes in the 50 and 100 freestyles.

For the men, freshman Andrew Wilson (Easton, Pa.) earned a second place finish in the 200 freestyle, swimming 1:47.93. Freshman Angelo D'Erico (Syosset, N.Y.) also placed second in the 50 breaststroke (27.09). Junior Hidenaga Murakami (Los Angeles, Calif.) earned two second place finishes, placing second in the 100 butterfly (52.51) and the 100 backstroke (55.56). Senior co-captain Mike LaRosa (Easton, Pa.) swam to second in the 50 freestyle (21.83). Freshman Matt Rienzo (Wallingford, Conn.) placed second in the 500 freestyle (4:53.60).

The swimming and diving squads will next compete at the Patriot Invitational on Friday, Nov. 18. The competition will take place at George Mason University.
