Swimmer Matt Miklius Named Third Team Academic All-American

WALTHAM, Mass. – Junior Matt Miklius (Palatine, Ill./St. Viator) of the Seton Hall men’s swimming and diving team has been named to the ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-America Men’s At-Large Third Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced Tuesday. The award is based upon a combination of outstanding athletic and scholastic achievement during the 2004-05 season.
A physics major, Miklius boasts a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point average through six semesters at Seton Hall. He has been named to the ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA District II At-Large Team twice, earning first team honors last month and a second team nod in 2004, and has been tabbed a BIG EAST Academic All-Star each year of his career.
In the pool, Miklius is one of the Pirates’ top swimmers, claiming seven dual-meet victories during the 2004-05 season. The school record-holder in the 1,000 freestyle, he was also a member of the 800 freestyle relay team that set a new school mark in the event at this year’s BIG EAST Championships.
