Niziolek and Giusfredi Earn Men's Soccer All-Northeast Region Honors

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ Senior Teddy Niziolek (Clifton, N.J.) and sophomore Eliseo Giusfredi (Paterson, N.J.) of the Seton Hall men’s soccer team were named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Northeast Region Teams announced on Wednesday.  Niziolek was named to the First Team, while Giusfredi earned a spot on the Second Team.

Niziolek had a career-year as a senior, tallying five goals and four assists for a career-high 14 points. Niziolek scored two game-winners this year, including the overtime tally to help SHU rally for a 2-1 win at Georgetown. He also showed his versatility and all-around soccer ability when he had to fill in on the backline for four games, during which the Pirates posted a pair of shutouts. Niziolek started played in all 79 games of his career, starting 78 of them. The talented midfielder also earned All-BIG EAST Second Team honors after earning All-Mid-Atlantic Region Third Team accolades as a junior.

Giusfredi was the focal point of opposing defenses, but still managed to rank in the top five in the BIG EAST with nine goals (t-fourth) and 22 points (fifth) in all games. In conference play, Giusfredi was even better, ranking third in points (17) and goals (seven). The Argentina-native earned All-BIG EAST First Team honors this season and was an all-region third team pick as a freshman. Giusfredi was named a Preseason All-BIG EAST member after notching 11 goals and three assists as a rookie.

The BIG EAST had 15 players represented on the all-region teams, with Connecticut leading the way with four selections. West Virginia, the regular-season champion of the Blue Division, had four players earn all-region honors.

The Pirates finished the season with a 9-8-1 record and advanced to their 13^th consecutive BIG EAST Tournament.
