BALTIMORE, Md.The Seton Hall swimming and diving teams swept Loyola and Georgetown in a tri-meet on Saturday afternoon. The men defeated BIG EAST opponent Georgetown 190-93, and Loyola 170-124, while the women won, 171-129 against Georgetown and 189-111 against Loyola. The men improve to 5-0 with the wins while the women improve to 3-2.
The men’s team was led by seniors Jack Leavitt (East Boston, Mass.), Hidenaga Murakami (Los Angeles, Calif.) and sophomore Angelo D’Errico (Syosset, N.Y.). Leavitt won the 200 freestyle in 1:43.92 and the 200 backstroke in 1:56.68. Murakami swept the butterfly events, winning the 100 butterfly in 51.83 and the 200 butterfly in 1:57.22. D’Errico took the breaststroke events, winning the 100 in 58.96 and the 200 in 2:14.34. Freshman Stan Sadovsky (Brooklyn, N.Y.) won the 50 freestyle in 21.78 while freshman Chris Kearney (Leawood, Kan.) won the 100 backstroke 54.77. The 200 medley relay added a victory for the Pirates in 1:38.27.
On the women’s side, Natalie Toczlowski (Sandwich, Mass.) was a double winner for the Pirates. Toczlowski won the 500 and 1000 freestyles with times of 5:10.53 and 10:32.55, respectively. Hannah Meyer (Batauia, Ill.), Kaitlyn Hafner and Christine Zuffante (Staten Island, N.Y.) all claimed victories in the 200 meter races. Meyer won the freestyle in 1:58.94, Hafner won the butterfly in 2:10.22 and Zuffante won the backstroke in 2:12.92. Freshman Olivia Jackson (Wescosville, Pa.) added another victory for the Pirates in the 100 freestyle with a time of 54.47.
The Pirates will next compete at the Patriot Invitational on Nov. 17-19 at Fairfax, Va., held at George Mason University.
