Bobby Gonzalez Adds Elvis Valcarcel To Men's Basketball Staff

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. Seton Hall men’s basketball head coach Bobby Gonzalez has announced the hiring of Elvis Valcarcel as video coordinator it was announced on Wednesday. Valcarcel joins Gonzalez’s staff that includes assistant coaches Dermon Player, Geoff Billet and Kevin Murphy as well as Director of Basketball Operations Stephen Sauers and Administrative Assistant Shaheen Holloway.

Valcarcel comes to Seton Hall after spending time with the Hoop Group, out of Neptune, N.J. He was the Assistant Director of the Eastern Invitational and assisted in the recruiting of high school student-athletes to all company tournaments and events. As site manager for camps and AAU tournaments he also assisted with player development and worked with coaches. A 2006 graduate of Rutgers University, Valcarcel spent three years as the Assistant Video Coordinator working extensively with the men’s basketball program. At Rutgers, Valcarcel worked closely with the coaching staff in various areas of the program. He was primarily responsible for creating scouting tapes and breaking down game film. Valcarcel also has an extensive background working at various AAU tournaments, as well as the Philadelphia Top 100 Basketball Camp and the Metro Top 100 Basketball Camp.

 “We are excited to add Elvis as the final piece of our staff,” Gonzalez said.  “This is a new position at Seton Hall and it is part of what we’re trying to build with this program. His main job will be working with video and game tape and we will utilize the position greatly. It is also a huge positive to add Elvis because he was born and raised in New Jersey. He has a great background and he is excited to be part of the program here at Seton Hall.”

In addition to Valcarcel’s appointment, the athletic department announced the following transactions:

Mike Kowalsky has been named Athletics Communications Intern.  Kowalsky comes to Seton Hall after receiving his degree from the State University of New York College at Cortland in May of 2006. While at Cortland he served as an event manager for the athletic department and worked in the sports information office. He also worked as an intern with the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League.. 

Jeremy Master has been named Facility Manager.  Master was an Assistant Manager at Greater Boston Indoor Sports and prior to that worked in Event Management at Springfield College for two years. Master, a 2002 graduate of Syracuse University, has also worked as an intern for the New Jersey Sports & Exposition Authority and is currently working towards his master’s degree from Springfield College.
