SOUTH ORANGE, N.J.The Seton Hall swimming and diving teams fell to Marist on Friday afternoon. The men’s team was defeated 156-144, while the women lost 162.5-137.5. The loss was the first for the men this season, as they fall to 6-1, while the women drop to 4-3. The teams also honored the eight seniors: Tim Curran (Beverly, Mass.), Meghan Dennis (West Long Branch, N.Y.), Laura Dubendorfer (Corning, N.Y.), Jack Leavitt (East Boston, Mass.), Jessica Kolackovsky (Franklin Square, N.Y.), Hidenaga Murakami (Los Angeles, Calif.), Fallon Quiles (Manalapan, N.J.) and Trudy Wojciehowski (Fair Haven, N.J.).
The men’s team placed first in both the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays. The 200 medley relay was composed of Leavitt, Angelo D'Errico (Syosset, N.Y.), Murakami and Stan Sadovski, and timed 1:35.94. Sadovski (Brooklyn, N.Y.), Jason Benson (Overland Park, Kan.), Christopher Kearney (Leawood, Kan.) and Leavitt timed 3:13.30 with the victory in the 400 freestyle. Leavitt added victories in both the 100 backstroke (51.96) and the 200 backstroke (1:54.53). D’Errico won both of the breaststrokes, timing 58.18 in the 100 and 2:08.59 in the 200. Murakami placed first in the 100 butterfly (52.54) and second in the 200 butterfly (1:57.65). Sadovski finished second on both the 50 and 100 freestyles. In addition, Freshman Andrew Wilson (Easton, Pa.) won the 1000 freestyle in 9:46.24.
The women’s team won the 400 freestyle relay, composed of Olivia Jackson (Wescosville, Pa.), Christina Miklius (Palatine, Ill.), Hannah Meyer (Batavia, Ill.) and Michelle Ducharme (Vernon, Conn.). Freshman Natalie Toczlowski (Sandwich, Mass.) added two first place victories in the 500 (5:08.27) and 1000 freestyles (10:28.11). Jackson and Kaitlyn Hafner (Cinnaminson, N.J.) each added victories, with Jackson winning the 100 freestyle (54.86) and Hafner taking the 400 individual medley in 4:40.53. Meyer placed second in the 200 freestyle (1:58.89) and added a third place finish in the 100 breaststroke (1:09.36). Christine Zuffante (Staten Island, N.Y.) placed second in the 100 (1:01.42) and 200 (2:14.58) backstrokes. Miklius also added a second place finish in the 50 freestyle (25.13) and a third place in the 100 backstroke (1:02.86).
The Seton Hall swimming and diving teams will host LaSalle on Tuesday, Jan. 16. Diving is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. and swimming will start at 5:00 p.m.
