SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - Seton Hall men’s basketball senior Grant Billmeier (Pennington, N.J.) will miss the remainder of the 2006-07 season due to an injury he sustained in action vs. Providence on Wednesday. The 6-foot-10 tri-captain tore the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee while battling for a rebound in the game’s first two minutes.
Billmeier, a rare two-year team captain, averaged 3.4 points and 3.4 rebounds per game and started 14-of-17 games this season. Well known for his leadership and hard work, he started 44-of-89 games in his Seton Hall career, averaging 3.1 points, 3.0 rebounds. His most memorable performance came vs. Providence during the 2004-05 season when he scored a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
A two-year starter, Billmeier helped guide the Pirates to two NCAA Tournament appearances and a thrilling victory over
Arizona in the first round of the
2004 event.
