PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Seton Hall senior Brian Laing (Bronx, N.Y.) was named to the BIG EAST Conference Men’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll on Monday. It marks the fourth time he has received the honor in his career.
Laing averaged 25.0 points, 9.5 rebounds and 3.5 steals in a week that saw the Pirates open the season with two overtime victories. They defeated Monmouth on Sunday, Nov. 11, 89-81, and Robert Morris on Sunday, Nov. 18, 111-107. Against Monmouth, Laing recorded his seventh career double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Most recently, he exploded for a career-high 32 points on 14-of-24 shooting and a team-high nine rebounds.
Also earning weekly honors, Pittsburgh’s Sam Young was named BIG EAST Player of the Week, while Syracuse’s Donte’ Greene was named Rookie of the Week. Those joining Laing on the Weekly Honor Roll include: A.J. Price of Connecticut, Terrence Williams of Louisville, Geoff McDermott of Providence, and J.R. Inman of Rutgers.
Laing and the rest of the Pirates will return to action on Tuesday, November 20 when they host Loyola at Prudential Center. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
