SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. The Seton Hall men’s basketball team has received votes in both the Associated Press (AP) and ESPN/USA Today weekly rankings, it was released this afternoon. The Pirates received 54 votes in the AP Top-25 poll, which ranks them 34th in the nation. They received two points in the ESPN/USA Today poll.
It marks the first time since February 6, 2006 that Seton Hall has received votes in either poll.
At 5-0, the Pirates are off to their best start since the 2000-01 season. Most recently, Seton Hall won the Independence Bracket of The Philly Hoop Group Classic, upsetting #23-ranked Virginia, 74-60, in the championship game. Senior Brian Laing (Bronx, N.Y.) was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player and is averaging 22.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game on the season.
Seton Hall will return to action on Wednesday, November 28 at Princeton University. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
