SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. The Seton Hall women’s basketball program has released its 2007-08 schedule, featuring a 12-game non-conference slate along with 16 BIG EAST contests.
The Pirates will open their season at home on Nov. 9 against Manhattan. BIG EAST play kicks off on Jan. 5 when SHU hosts Cincinnati at Walsh Gymnasium.
Seton Hall’s non-conference schedule includes a pair of in-season tournaments. This year’s SHU Basketball Classic, held Nov. 16-17, will pit the Pirates against George Mason on day one and either Toledo or San Diego on day two. Seton Hall will make a trip to the west coast for the San Diego State Surf N Slam Tournament on Dec. 28 & 30. The Pirates will face Western Michigan in the opening game followed by a match up with San Diego State or Quinnipiac in the second game.
SHU will play a pair of games in Utah over Thanksgiving. On Nov. 21 the Pirates will take on Utah Valley State before facing BYU on Nov. 28. After traveling to Iona on Nov. 28, Seton Hall heads to Northwestern for a Dec. 6 contest.
Other non-conference home opponents for the Pirates are Fairleigh Dickinson (Nov. 12), Saint Joseph’s (Dec. 21), and Pennsylvania (Jan. 15).
Seton Hall will play a home and home series with St. John’s, hosting the Red Storm on Jan. 29 before returning the game on Feb. 26. Highlighting the home schedule are dates with Connecticut (Feb. 9) and Louisville (Feb. 23). The Pirates have tough road dates at national runner-up Rutgers (Jan. 12), Pittsburgh (Feb. 6), Marquette (Feb. 16), and Notre Dame (Mar. 1).
Other home conference opponents are South Florida (Jan. 19), West Virginia (Feb. 3), Syracuse (Feb. 13), and DePaul (Mar. 3). The Pirates will take to the road for games at Villanova (Jan. 8), Georgetown (Jan. 22), and Providence (Jan. 26).
