Men's Basketball Full Schedule Announced

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. The BIG EAST unveiled the 2007-08 men’s basketball conference schedules for all 16 member schools on Wednesday.  Combined with the previously released non-conference schedule, Seton Hall will host 17 games in its inaugural season at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. 

The Pirates will open the season at home on Sunday, November 11 vs. Monmouth.  Their first BIG EAST game of the season will be at Prudential Center vs. Connecticut on Thursday, January 3, while the final game of their regular season will be at home against arch-rival Rutgers on Sunday, March 9.  To purchase tickets, or for more Seton Hall ticket information, please call (973) 275-HALL.

“This is a really incredible, yet challenging schedule,” head coach Bobby Gonzalez said.  “We’ve got a great non-conference slate which includes a bunch of local teams as well as high-powered schools like N.C. State and possibly Virginia.  The BIG EAST schedule is also really exciting and features some big-time, high-profile home games for our first season at Prudential Center.  I think the fans will really enjoy this.”

Seton Hall will host Concordia College in exhibition action on Friday, November 2 at Walsh Gym before beginning the regular season on November 11 vs. Monmouth.  In addition to the Hawks, the Pirates non-conference schedule features home games against St. Peter’s (Dec. 4), James Madison (Dec. 22), North Carolina State (Dec. 27), Delaware State (Dec. 31), Morgan State (Jan. 5), as well as Robert Morris and Loyola (Md.) as a part of the Philly Classic.

Eight teams comprise the field for the inaugural Philly Classic.  Seton Hall will host Robert Morris on Sunday, November 18 and Loyola (Md.) on Tuesday, November 20, both at Prudential Center.  The Pirates final two games of the Philly Classic will be held at The Palestra in Philadelphia.  Seton Hall will play Navy on November 23 and the winner or loser of the Pennsylvania/Virginia game (depending on the outcome of the Navy game) on November 24.

Other non-conference road opponents for the Pirates include Princeton (Nov. 28), St. Mary’s (Dec. 1) and Penn State (Dec. 8).

This season, the BIG EAST Conference schedule has been expanded to 18 games with each team playing all 15 others at least once.  Seton Hall’s schedule features a home-and-home series with Marquette, Rutgers and USF.  The Pirates will open the conference schedule at home against Connecticut on Jan. 3.  Additionally, the Pirates will play home games against USF (Jan. 17), Louisville, (Jan. 19), Cincinnati (Jan. 27), Notre Dame (Feb. 6), Marquette, (Feb. 12), DePaul (Feb. 23), Syracuse (March 5) and Rutgers (March 9).  Seton Hall will travel to Marquette (Jan. 8), Pittsburgh (Jan. 12), Providence (Jan. 24), Rutgers (Jan. 30), Georgetown (Feb. 2), Villanova (Feb. 9), West Virginia (Feb. 17), USF (Feb. 26) and St. John’s (March 1).
