Women's Basketball Crushes Caldwell, 93-44

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. The Seton Hall women’s basketball team rolled to victory on Monday night over Division II Caldwell College, 93-44, at Walsh Gymnasium.  The Pirates (2-0) are back in action on Friday when they host Wagner in the first round of the SHU Classic at 6:00 p.m.

Freshman Kandice Green (Baltimore, Md.) recorded her second straight double-double to begin her career, scoring 19 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.  Junior Nicole Emery (Baldwin, N.Y.) also turned in a monster performance with 16 points, seven boards, five blocks and four steals.

Three more Pirates were also in double digits on the night.  Sophomore Ebonie Williams (Hagerstown, Md.) had 15 points along with five assists, while junior Ashley Booker (San Diego, Calif.) also scored 15, a new career high.  Freshman Shanai Heber (Paterson, N.J.) netted 10 points.

Kaitlyn Lambert and Mackenzie Lynch had 10 points each for Caldwell (0-2).

The Pirates jumped out to a 16-2 lead to begin the game and led by as many as 24 in the opening half.  SHU stretched the lead to 51 with 46 seconds left in the game.

The Hall hit 51.5 percent from the field while holding the Cougars to just 22.8 percent.  Seton Hall also had a 52-28 edge on the glass and forced 29 turnovers.

Seton Hall’s 93 points are the most it has scored since a 95-59 win over Monmouth on Nov. 27, 1993.  The 49-point margin of victory is the largest since the Pirates defeated Northeastern by 59 points, 92-33, on Dec. 2, 1995.
