
Men's Basketball Wins Fifth Straight; Pounds DePaul, 72-49

Four players scored in double-figures for the Pirates. Junior Robert Mitchell (
Seton Hall jumped out to a quick 8-4 lead on the strength of a Robert Mitchell three-pointer and a three-point play by Eugene Harvey. DePaul’s Dar Tucker answered back with consecutive baskets to tie the game at eight with 15:58 remaining in the first half. The Pirates went on an 11-2 run capped by another Mitchell three-pointer to take a 19-10 lead with 12:04 remaining before halftime.

In all, Seton Hall closed out the half with an 8-0 run to take a 40-24 lead, their largest of the first half into the locker room. Mitchell led the Pirates at the half with 11 points and six rebounds. He was also a perfect 3-for-3 from behind the three-point arc. As a team, Seton Hall was 53.3% from the floor, while DePaul shot only 34.5%.
The Pirates did not let up in the second half. Mitchell continued his hot shooting and his jumper with 14:32 left in the game gave Seton Hall a 48-29 lead. DePaul would not get closer than 16 points the rest of the way.
Seton Hall will return to action on Saturday, February 14 when the Pirates host #1-ranked
