
Baseball Travels To Villanova For Three-Game Series

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. The Seton Hall Pirates (14-12, 5-4) will continue their BIG EAST Conference season when they travel to Villanova (14-15, 1-8) for a three-game series. The teams will open with a double header on Thursday beginning at 12:15 p.m.
Pirates vs. Wildcats
Since 1973, the Hall has won 67 of the 105 meetings between the two teams outscoring the Wildcats, 759-519. Last season, the teams played each other on Easter Weekend, with the Pirates sweeping the Thursday double header and sweeping the series with a win on Saturday, however the Wildcats eliminated the Pirates in the BIG EAST Tournament with a, 10-0, victory on the third day of the five day event.
Following Thursday’s doubleheader, the two schools will take off on Good Friday, and complete the series on Saturday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 12:15.
Wildcats
Villanova enters the weekend 15-15 overall and currently stand in 12th place of the conference with a 1-8 record. Five players, including David Koczirka with a team-leading .384 batting average, are hitting above .300. Matt McFolling - batting .372 - is tied for the team lead of 27 RBI with Joe Cotter (.313). Dain Hall (.302) leads the team with 12 doubles, and 28 runs scored, while Matt Szczur (.343) rounds out the .300 hitters leading the team with 108 at-bats.
On the mound for the Wildcats, Chris Pack leads the team with a 4.02 ERA, however Kyle Helisek leads the team with a 4-1 record. Brian Streilein leads the team with 41 innings pitched, and is tied for second on the staff with Helisek with 25 strikeouts. Kevin Crimmel’s 27 strikeouts is good for the team lead.
In the bullpen, Mike Francisco leads the way with a team-high 14 appearances and two saves. He has earned 21 strikeouts in the 22.1 innings of work.
Beginning the BIG EAST Season 5-4
For just the fifth time in the program, and the second time in as many years, the Seton Hall Pirates have begun a BIG EAST Conference season 5-4. Prior to starting the 2008 season 5-4, they had the same start in 2003, 2002, and 1991.

Following the BIG EAST Conference weekend against Villanova, the Pirates return home for a game against
