Welcome to the Seton Hall University Swimming and Diving Team Blog. The 2009-2010 season should be a very special one as both teams are looking forward to a great season. Our first practice will be on Thursday September 3, followed by a beach workout in Ocean Grove, NJ on Saturday morning 7-9 a.m. I am sure fun will be had by all, provided mother nature cooperates during the hurricane season. Please look back for more updates and pictures as the season begins.

We are winding down our first week of practice and the team is doing really well. We had our first annual beach workout and aside of some rough surf... right Austin, it was a great day and experience. All of the freshman are getting acclimated to the program and school and are doing really well. Also this morning at practice coach Pete held our first yoga class. I am sure all would agree that it was a great warm-up for practice and we are looking forward to tomorrow's session. We will be doing yoga 1-2 times per week prior to practice in the mornings for 30-40 minutes. Next week we will be looking to get things going with our first test set of the season. Hopefully everyone will be feeling ok...

We have had a great week of practice since our beach workout. The Men and Women are training very hard, I feel that we are 2-3 weeks ahead in our training over past seasons. During our first test set of 10 x 100 @ 130 our top male was Kevin Webster with a 53.03 average and our top male was Kaitlyn Hafner with a 1:00.39, The overall combined team average was 59.8 ...Great Job!!! All the freshman are training very well...earlier in the week we had a kick challenge on Wednesday to start practice at 7am Thursday morning rather than the normal 6am...Mike Oldham, Kevin Webster, Pete Gingeleski and Freshman Carly Winton all had to race 100 Kick under their goal time...Mike and Pete 1:08 (had to be under 1:12) Carly 1:25 (had to be under 1:25) and Kevin 1:03 (had to be under 1:05). Also we have 5th year senior Hannah Meyer coming back from double shoulder surgery who is swimming at mid -year form...keep up the good work Hannah!!! Thanks to coach Pete for his Yoga mornings....

We finished up this week with a Saturday Bi-athalon that went really well. It consisted of an 800 race followed by 20 flights of stairs, 25 push ups, 400 Race 20 flights of stairs, 25 pushups, 200 race followed by abs until all teammates finished. We did it twice. The female winner was Freshman Adrea Shuba with a time of 23:45.12 . The Male winner by 1 second was Kevin Webster with a time of 21:22.11 over Freshman Austin Acheson 21:23.00. It was a great effort by all and was followed by an "Hour of Power" 20 x 100 @ 3:00 Choice RACE. We are really starting to crank up the practices and I think everyone has a fantastic attitude and is working really hard.
