
Men's Swimming & Diving Rolls Past Rider, 171-125

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - The Seton Hall men's swimming & diving team used nine first place finishes, including a combined five from Kevin Webster (Leadwood, Kan.) and Austin Acheson (Olathe, Kan.) to defeat Rider, 171-125, Friday afternoon in Lawrenceville.
Acheson began the day with a first place time in the 1,000-yard freestyle and later added another in the 500-yard freestyle. Webster continued from his BIG EAST Championship season a year ago with top times in the 100 and 200-yard backstroke and in the 400-yard individual medley.
Senior Kenny Pritchard (Castro Valley, Calif.) recorded a first place score in the 100-yard breaststroke while adding a second place finish in the 200-yard freestyle. Sophomore Ryan O'Shaughnessy (Coral Springs, Fla.) finished behind Pritchard with a second place time in the 100-yard breaststroke, but later in the day swam to a top time in the 200-yard breaststroke.
Freshmen Spencer Murakami (Los Angeles, Calif.) and Joey Lacus (Wethersfield, Conn.) rounded out the afternoon of first place scores in the 200-yard butterfly and 50-yard freestyle, respectively. The California native Murakami also added a second place time in the 100-yard butterfly while Lacus finished fourth in the 100-yard freestyle.
Finishing behind Lacus in second place in the 50-yard freestyle was junior Matt Holland (Horsham, Pa.) who also added a third place time in the 100-yard freestyle.
Junior Pete Gingeleskie (Bloomfield, N.J.) earned a second place finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle with sophomore Ian Keyser (Petersburg, N.J.) ending the same race in third place. Keyser also added a third place score in the 500-yard freestyle.
Senior John D'Errico (Syosset, N.Y.) finished the 100-yard butterfly in third place, however recorded a second place score in the 200-yard freestyle with freshmen Tyler Naumann (Middletown, Conn.) and Jon Ropson (McKinney, Tex.) behind him in third and fourth place, respectively.
Freshmen Matt Benson (Overland Park, Kan.) ended his races just behind Webster with second place times in both the 100 and 200-yard backstroke, while classmate Greg Black (Easton, Pa.) earned a second place score in the 200-yard butterfly behind Murakami. Ian DeLisio (Woodstock, N.Y.) finished the day with a third place time in the 200-yard breaststroke.
In addition to the victory, Acheson, D'Errico, Webster, Benson, Pritchard, O'Shaughnessy, Murakami, Black, Lacus, Holland, and DeLisio all punched tickets to the BIG EAST Championships with qualifying times.
The men's swimming & diving team returns to the pool for a Quad Meet on Saturday, October 30 when they travel to Baltimore to face Drexel, Loyola, and Lafayette.
