
Men's Swimming & Diving Finishes Fourth At Patriot Invitational

FAIRFAX, VA. - The Seton Hall men's swimming & diving team finished fourth out of nine teams with a score of 474.5 while sending four more swimmers to the BIG EAST Championship during the three-day Patriot Invitational hosted by George Mason.
Senior Kevin Webster (Leawood, Kan.) finished the weekend with four first place finishes to lead the men's squad. He recorded his first top time in the 500-yard freestyle and followed it up with another in the mile and two more in the 200-yard backstroke and 100-yard butterfly.
Sophomore Austin Acheson (Olathe, Kan.) took home third in the mile in front of classmate Ian Keyser (Petersburg, N.J.) in fourth, junior Pete Gingeleskie (Bloomfield, N.J.) in sixth and freshman Jon Ropson (McKinney, Tex.) in 14th. Acheson also added a first place time in the 400-yard individual medley along with a fourth place score in the 500-yard freestyle and 14th in the 200-yard backstroke. Gingeleskie added a seventh place finish in the 500-yard freestyle as well, and Keyser finished with a 15th place time in the 200-yard backstroke.
Senior Kenny Pritchard (Castro Valley, Calif.) brought home a second place time in the 100-yard breaststroke in addition to his point-receiving 15th place time in the 100-yard freestyle.
Freshmen Joey Lacus (Wethersfield, Conn.) Tyler Naumann (Middletown, Conn.), Matt Benson (Overland Park, Kan.), and Spencer Murakami (Los Angeles, Calif.) also finished with important points for the Pirates. Lacus began the Invitational with a 14th place finish in the 50-yard freestyle. Naumann finished with a 12th place time in the 500-yard freestyle and a 13th place time in the 100-yard butterfly. Benson recorded an 11th place time in the 100-yard backstroke and a seventh place time in the 200-yard backstroke. Murakami finished 14th in the 100-yard butterfly and 21st in the 200-yard individual medley.
Sophomore Ryan O'Shaughnessy (Coral Springs, Fla.) picked up points in four individual events with an eighth place finish in the 200-yard individual medley, 10th place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke, and 14th place finishes in the 100-yard breaststroke and 400-yard individual medley.
Senior John D'Errico (Syosset, N.Y.) rounded out the weekend with a 12th place time in the 100-yard butterfly.
Following the end the weekend, Tyler Naumann, Nick Naumann (Middletown, Conn.), Mike Oldham (Silver Lake, Oh.), and Ropson each earned a qualifying time to the conference championships giving the men's team a total of 17.
The men's team returns to action December sixth when they host Montclair State at 5:00 p.m.
