SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - An 18-4 run in the second half helped the Seton Hall women's basketball team to a 50-40 win over Army on Tuesday night at Walsh Gymnasium. The Pirates (3-2) take on Boston College on Friday in the opening round of the Junkanoo Jam in Freeport, Bahamas.

The Pirates led 6-0 less than a minute and a half into the contest on four points from junior Kandice Green (Baltimore, Md.) and two from Crew. Army cut it to 6-5 with 14:03 left on jump hook from Erin Anthony, but Crew stuck a three that pushed the lead back to four for the Pirates.
Simmons drained a three from the top of the key for a 12-8 Seton Hall lead with 9:45 to go, and a short jumper from junior Whitney Wood (Santa Margarita, Calif.) stretched the advantage to six. Later, Crew buried a pull-up to make it 18-9, and she kept it at nine moments later with another short bucket from the right wing. Army would rally, however, cutting it to 22-20 on a three-pointer by Nalini Hawkins with 2:03 left, the final score of the half.
Molly Yardley connected from deep a minute into the second half to give the Black Knights their first lead of the night, 23-22. Crew later tied it at 24, but Jessica Waggoner scored on the other end to put Army back in front. Later, a transition bucket by freshman Jazzmine Johnson (Glen Dale, Md.) with 13:36 left cut the Hall's deficit to one at 29-28, and she put the Pirates back in front with a three-footer a minute later.
With the score tied at 31, Wood put the Pirates back in front with a strong move inside as the clock moved under 10 minutes, and Simmons pushed it to four with a driving bucket at the 8:20 mark. A steal and score from Johnson made it 37-32, and Simmons buried a three with six minutes left for an eight-point lead. Less than a minute later, Simmons hit from the corner in transition as the Hall grabbed a 42-32 edge.
Army got to within 44-38 on a layup by Hawkins with just under 90 seconds to play, but the Black Knights would get no closer.
