
Men's Swimming & Diving Rolls Past Iona, 180-92

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - The Seton Hall men's swimming & diving team defeated Iona, 180-92, Tuesday evening in New York to improve their record to 4-1.
Pete Gingeleskie (Bloomfield, N.J.), Austin Acheson (Olathe, Kan.), and Ryan O'Shaughnessy (Coral Springs, Fla.) each recorded two first place times, while Kevin Webster (Leawood, Kan.), John D'Errico (Syosset, N.Y.), Joey Lacus (Wethersfield, Conn.), and diver Will Penny (Suffern, N.Y.) finished with one each.
Gingeleskie began the day recording a top time in the 1,000-yard freestyle and later did the same in the 500-yard freestyle. Acheson finished first in the 200-yard butterfly and 200-yard backstroke. O'Shaughnessy recorded his top times in the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke while adding a third place finish in the 500-yard freestyle.
Webster finished first in the 100-yard backstroke with freshman Matt Benson (Overland Park, Kan.) finishing behind him in second place. Benson would later add another second place time in the 100-yard freestyle with Matt Holland (Horsham, Pa.) finishing just behind him in third.
Already with a second place finish in the 200-yard butterfly, D'Errico took home a first place time in the 100-yard butterfly with freshman Jon Ropson (McKinney, Tex.) recording a second place time in the same event. Lacus would round out the evening with a first place finish in the 50-yard freestyle.
Adding to Gingeleskie's time in the 1,000-yard freestyle, Ian Keyser (Petersburg, N.J.) and Spencer Murakami (Los Angeles, Calif.) finished two and three, respectively, to give the Pirates top three scores. Keyser also finished third in the 200-yard backstroke behind Acheson's top time for valuable points.
Tyler Naumann (Middletown, Conn.) recorded second place finishes in the 200 and 500-yard freestyle as well as a third place finish in the 100-yard butterfly. Kenny Pritchard (Castro Valley, Calif.) finished second behind O'Shaughnessy in the 100-yard breaststroke while Ian DeLisio (Woodstock, N.Y.) finished third in both the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke. Brian Pauling (Sewell, N.J.) ended his evening with a third place finish in the 200-yard butterfly behind Acheson and D'Errico to score one through three in the event.
On the diving boards, Penny picked up his first top score of the season in the 1-meter event with Evan Forbes (Cinnaminson, N.J.) taking home second place.
The Pirates will make their home debut on Saturday when they welcome BIG EAST Conference rival Providence to South Orange. Meet is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
