
Tajay Ashmeade Named To BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Seton Hall junior Tajay Ashmeade (Bronx, N.Y.) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for her career-high 15-point, 21-rebound effort against LaSalle.
It was the second double-double of the year for Ashmeade, who also added two steals and two blocks. She is the second Pirate this season to make the honor roll, joining junior Kandice Green (Baltimore, Md.).
Connecticut senior Maya Moore earned Player of the Week honors, while Louisville's Shoni Schimmel was named Freshman of the Week.
The BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll:
Bria Hartley, Connecticut, Fr., G (North Babylon, N.Y.)
Netted a career-high 21 points in UConn's victory against then-No.22/ 20 Florida State. Shot 8-of-10 from the field, including 5-of-6 from 3-point range.
Sugar Rodgers, Georgetown, So., G (Suffolk, Va.)
Notched her first double-double of the season with 22 points and 10 rebounds in the Hoyas' win against Coppin State. Also had seven assists and four steals helping GU extend its home winning streak to 21.
Jania Sims, Pittsburgh, R-Sr., G (Newark, N.J.)
In two games, averaged 18.5 ppg and 5.0 rpg, while shooting 56.5 percent. Had a season-high 26 points against Texas Tech. Named to the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic All-Tournament Team.
Tajay Ashmeade, Seton Hall, Jr., C (Bronx, N.Y.)
Posted career highs of 15 points, 21 rebounds and two assists, tying a career high with two blocks in a win against La Salle.
Iasia Hemingway, Syracuse, Jr., G (Newark, N.J.)
Averaged 15.5 points per game, shooting 50 percent from the floor, and 8.0 rebounds per game. Recorded 21 points and 10 rebounds in SU's win against Clemson and had 10 points and six rebounds vs. No. 3/2 Baylor, earning a spot on the Bahamas Sunshine Shootout All-Tournament Team.
