
Men's Swimming & Diving Falls To Connecticut, 176-120

STORRS, CONN. - The Seton Hall men's swimming & diving team dropped their second straight meet, this time to Connecticut, 176-120, Saturday afternoon at Connecticut.
The Pirates jumped out to a good start finishing with first and third place times in the 1,000-yard freestyle, 100-yard backstroke, and the 100-yard breaststroke, while adding second and third place times in the 200-yard butterfly and the 50-yard freestyle.
Pete Gingeleskie (Bloomfield, N.J.) began the afternoon with a top time in the 1,000-yard freestyle followed by Ian Keyser (Petersburg, N.J.) in third. The junior from Bloomfield would add a second place finish in the 500-yard freestyle event later in the meet.
Among Kevin Webster's (Leadwood, Kan.) three first place finishes on the afternoon, his day started with a top time in the 100-yard backstroke with Matt Benson (Overland Park, Kan.) finishing third. The senior, Webster, also recorded top times in the 200-yard backstroke and the 200-yard individual medley, breaking the Connecticut pool record. The latter event saw Ryan O'Shaughnessy (Coral Springs, Fla.) finish second.
Kenny Pritchard (Castro Valley, Calif.) earned first place in the 100-yard breaststroke followed by O'Shaughnessy in third. The senior from California later added a second place finish in the 100-yard freestyle, while O'Shaughnessy closed out a strong performance with a second place time in the 200-yard breaststroke.
In the 200-yard butterfly by Spencer Murakami (Los Angeles, Calif.) finished second followed by Greg Black (Easton, Pa.) in third. Joey Lacus (Wethersfield, Conn.) finished second in the 50-yard freestyle with Matt Holland (Horsham, Pa.) finishing third. Murakami added a third place score in the 100-yard butterfly.
The Pirates return to action when they host Marist Saturday afternoon. Prior to the meet, Seton Hall will honor their five seniors. Meet is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
