PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Senior Meghan Matusiak (Winfield, Ill.) was named BIG EAST Player of the Week after guiding the Seton Hall volleyball team to a pair of wins to clinch its third straight BIG EAST Championship appearance.
Matusiak put the Pirates on her back when it mattered most, averaging 4.90 kills and 5.50 points per set. She opened the weekend with a 22-kill, 13-dig effort to help the Pirates overcome an 0-2 deficit to beat St. John's in five sets on Saturday. On Sunday against Connecticut, the right-side hitter posted a career-high with 27 kills and added 10 digs for another double-double in the postseason-clinching victory.
The #6-seeded Pirates will face #3 Marquette on Friday, November 18, in the quarterfinals. First-serve is slated for 7:00 p.m. eastern time.
