DURHAM, N.H. - The Seton Hall women's basketball team won its third-straight in a decisive 61-38 victory over New Hampshire on Wednesday night. Senior Jasmine Crew (Camden, N.J.) posted a career-high 23 points on 8-of-14 shooting and added six boards to lead the Pirates.
Junior Brittany Morris (Raleigh, N.C.) drilled four three-pointers in the first half and finished with 12 points. Senior Tajay Ashmeade (Bronx, N.Y.) grabbed a team-high nine rebounds, including seven in just six minutes in the first half.
Morris hit a trio of three-pointers in the first seven minutes to give the Hall a 12-8 lead. After the Wildcats (1-1) scored the next four points, Crew took over, netting the next eight points to give the Pirates a 20-14 lead with 8:17 remaining in the half.
Ariel Gaton brought UNH within three after a trifecta from the wing with 7:27, but that would be the Wildcats last points of the half. A free-throw by Ashmeade with 14.6 seconds remaining made it the halftime score of 28-17.
The Pirates continued to impose their will defensively in the second half, limiting the Wildcats to just one field goal in the first 15:13 of the second frame to open a 39-21 cushion and never looked back.
The Pirates held the Wildcats to 31-percent shooting and turned 15 UNH turnovers into 21 points.
The Pirates return to the friendly confines of Walsh Gymnasium on Sunday, November 20, when they welcome Michigan to South Orange. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m. For tickets, please contact the Seton Hall Ticket Office at (973) 275-HALL or via email at tickets@shu.edu.
