
Herb Pope Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Seton Hall senior Herb Pope (Aliquippa, Pa.) was named to the BIG EAST's Weekly Honor Roll on Monday.
It's the second straight week to open the season that Pope has been recognized by the conference. Last Monday, he was named BIG EAST Player of the Week.
Pope averaged 16.5 points and 12.0 rebounds per game while guiding Seton Hall to a perfect 2-0 week with home victories over Yale and Saint Peter's. The 6-foot-8 power forward recorded double-doubles in both games giving him 24 for his career, the most among all active BIG EAST players. In a 73-62 victory over Yale, Pope tallied 17 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, three blocks and three steals in a strong all-around effort. On Saturday vs. Saint Peter's, he scored 16 points and matched his season-high of 14 rebounds.
Pope is currently third in the BIG EAST with 20.5 points per game and second in the conference with 11.7 rebounds per game.
Other weekly honors include: Syracuse's Kris Joseph being named BIG EAST Player of the Week and Connecticut's Andre Drummond earning BIG EAST Rookie of the Week recognition. Joining Pope on the Honor Roll are DePaul's Cleveland Melvin, Georgetown's Jason Clark, Pittsburgh's Tray Woodall and West Virginia's Kevin Jones.
Pope and the rest of the Pirates will return to action on Friday, Dec. 2 when they host Auburn as part of the 2011 BIG EAST/SEC Challenge at the Prudential Center.
