SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - The Seton Hall women's basketball team dropped a 70-37 decision to #2 Connecticut on Friday night in front of a sold out crowd at Walsh Gymnasium. The Pirates fell to 5-5 overall and 0-1 in BIG EAST play.
Senior Jasmine Crew (Camden, N.J.) scored a team-high 12 points, going 6-for-7 from the charity stripe.
Caroline Doty, Tiffany Hayes, and Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis scored 15 points apiece to lead the Huskies (9-0, 1-0)
UConn started the game on a 20-0 run over the first 7:58 of the opening half before a pair of free throws by Alexis Brown (Jacksonville, Fla.) put the Pirates on the board. Junior Brittany Morris (Raleigh, N.C.) recorded SHU's first field goal on a driving layup with 8:27 left in the first half. Morris followed with a free throw after she was fouled on the play, but the Huskies were still ahead, 30-5, and took a 44-20 lead into the break.
Another 11-2 run set the tone in the second half for Connecticut as they remain undefeated on the season.
SHU held the Huskies to 26 points in the second half and limited them to 37.7 percent shooting from the game, but shot just 20.9 percent on their offensive end.
The Pirates continue their home stand against Drexel on Monday, December 12 in Walsh Gymnasium at 7:00 p.m. For tickets, please contact the Seton Hall Ticket Office at (973) 275-HALL or via email at tickets@shu.edu.
