HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. - The Seton Hall women's basketball team fell to Hofstra, 94-74, on Thursday evening. Senior Jasmine Crew (Camden, N.J.) scored a game-high 25 points, while junior Brittany Morris (Raleigh, N.C.) went off for a career-high 22 points.
Crew also posted a season-best six assists to lead all players. Freshman Alexis Brown (Jacksonville, Fla.) made her collegiate debut and had a team-best nine rebounds to go with four points in 22 minutes of action.
The Pride (5-1) raced out to a quick 10-2 lead in the opening 1:47 of the game thanks to a pair of treys by Katelyn Loper. Despite SHU settling in offensively, Hofstra continued to dictate the scoreboard and held a comfortable, 50-29, cushion heading into the locker room.
The Pride was 6-for-8 from three-point range and shot 51.7 percent from the field in the opening frame and forced 12 Pirate turnovers.
In the second half, SHU played just about even with Hofstra the entire way and was only able to cut the deficit to 18 after a short jumper by Alex Maseko (Harare, Zimbabwe) at the 10:29 mark of the period.
Both teams shot well from the floor, with the Pride finishing up at a 44.6 percent clip and the Pirates hit on 41.2 percent. Hofstra held a 47-33 advantage on the boards.
The Pirates return home to face Wake Forest on Sunday, December 4. Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m. in Walsh Gymnasium. For tickets, please contact the Seton Hall Ticket Office at (973) 275-HALL or via email at tickets@shu.edu.
