
Women's Basketball Halted By Howard; Drops 63-44 Decision

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - The duo of Tamoria Holmes and Saadia Doyle led Howard past the Seton Hall women's basketball team, 63-44, on Wednesday night. Holmes scored 23 points, while Doyle poured in 20 to lead the Bison (7-5).
The Pirates (7-7) were led by Jasmine Crew (Camden, N.J.), who finished with 13 points. Senior Tajay Ashmeade (Bronx, N.Y.) posted her third-straight double-figure rebounding game after pulling down 14 boards.
The Bison started the game on an 11-3 run in the opening 4:58 to take the early advantage. Howard led by as many as 16 points in the half and took a 31-19 cushion into the locker room.
A Morris trey brought SHU back within single-digits with 17:05 on the clock, but the Bison scored the next six to regain control. Howard continued to keep the pressure on and cruised to its third-straight victory.
Howard converted often in the open floor, outscoring Seton Hall 18-2 in fast break points. The Bison also netted 17 second chance points while SHU managed only eight.
The Pirates will hit the road to face Memphis on Friday, Dec. 30, at 8:00 p.m.
