
Jeremy Hazell Named BIG EAST Player of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Seton Hall senior Jeremy Hazell (Harlem, N.Y.) was named BIG EAST Player of the Week on Sunday for his exploits during the final week of the regular season.
Hazell averaged 26.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.5 steals per game in week that saw Seton Hall go 2-0. The 6-foot-5 guard scored a season-high 31 points and was an efficient 9-for-14 from the floor and 4-for-6 from three-point range in an 84-70 victory over #15 St. John's on Thursday. He also grabbed four rebounds, dished out three assists and recorded three steals in the upset win. On Saturday, Senior Night, Hazell led all scorers with 21 points on 6-for-11 shooting and 4-for-5 from three-point range in an 85-72 victory over Marquette. Hazell also grabbed four rebounds and recorded four steals. In the win, he became only the third player in Seton Hall history to amass 2,100 career points.
Also earning weekly honors, Rutgers' Gilvydas Biruta was named Rookie of the Week. Members of the Weekly Honor Roll include: Kyle Kuric of Louisville, Ben Hansbrough of Notre Dame, Ashton Gibbs of Pittsburgh, Marshon Brooks of Providence and Kevin Jones of West Virginia.
Hazell and the rest of the Pirates will return to action on Tuesday, March 8 as they begin play at the 2011 BIG EAST Championship in Madison Square Garden. #12 Seton Hall will face #13 Rutgers at 2:00 p.m.
