SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - Seton Hall men's senior swimmer Kevin Webster (Leawood, Kan.) has qualified to compete in the NCAA Championships after finishing the 2010-11 season ranked 14th in the nation in the 400-yard individual medley. The three-time BIG EAST Champion becomes the first Seton Hall swimmer to be invited to the season's final championship round.
In addition to competing in the 400-yard individual medley, Webster will also compete in the 200-yard backstroke and the 500-yard freestyle where he completed the year ranked 21st and 30th, respectively.
While competing in the 2011 BIG EAST Championships, the two-time Seton Hall Male Athlete of the Year was named the Championship's Most Outstanding Male Swimmer after earning titles in the 400-yard individual medley and the 200-yard backstroke along with finishing second in the 500-yard freestyle. Coupling his victory in this year's 200-yard backstroke with his 2010 championship in the 200-yard backstroke, Webster became the first Seton Hall swimmer to repeat as a BIG EAST Champion in an event.
Webster is one of seven BIG EAST swimmers to qualify for the NCAA Championships as he joins members from Notre Dame, West Virginia, and Louisville.
The 2011 NCAA Men's Swimming & Diving Championships are set to take place from Thursday, March 24 through Saturday, March 26 at the University of Minnesota Aquatics Center in Minneapolis.
