
Jeremy Hazell Named to All-Met First Team

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - Seton Hall men's basketball senior Jeremy Hazell (Harlem, N.Y.) was named to the Division I All-Met First Team for the third consecutive season by the National Invitation Tournament and the Met Basketball Writers Association, it was announced on Tuesday.
Hazell was honored at the 78th annual NIT/MBWA Awards Dinner at the Westchester Marriott in Tarrytown, New York Tuesday evening.
Capping a historic career at Seton Hall, Hazell's senior year has been laden with awards and accolades. He was named to the All-BIG EAST Third Team, marking the the fourth straight season that the 6-foot-5 guard has earned all-conference recognition. A preseason Top-50 Wooden Award and Lowe's Senior CLASS Award candidate, Hazell averaged more than 19 points per game for a third consecutive season. He became the third player at Seton Hall and the 30th player in BIG EAST history to record 2,000 career points and along the way, broke the BIG EAST record for most career three-pointers made in conference games. Hazell concludes his collegiate career as Seton Hall's all-time leader in three-pointers made and attempted and ranks third on its scoring list with 2,146 career points. As the Pirates were making their final push towards the post-season, he was named BIG EAST Player of the Week in the regular season's final week and guided Seton Hall to victories over #15 St. John's and Marquette.
Hazell accomplished all of this despite missing 13 games this season while recovering from a broken wrist.
Joining Hazell on the All-Met First Team are Dwight Hardy of St. John's, Mike Glover and Scott Machado of Iona, Julian Boyd of LIU and Charles Jenkins of Hofstra.
Jenkins was named winner of the 78th Haggerty Award as the 2010-11 All-Met Division I Men's College Basketball Player of the Year. He becomes only the third student-athlete to win the award three times. Jason Brickman of LIU was named Rookie of the Year.
Jim Ferry of LIU won the Peter A. Carlesimo Coach of the Year award.
Voting for the All-Met teams was done by members of the media in the tri-state area.
