PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Sophomore Shelbey Manthorpe (Merion Station, Pa.) was named to the BIG EAST Volleyball Weekly Honor Roll for the fifth straight week after recording a triple-double in the Pirates' lone match last week, a victory over Rutgers.
Manthorpe has now recorded seven triple-doubles this season and has 11 for her career. Prior to her arrival last year, no Pirate in school history had recorded even one. In Seton Hall's 3-2 victory over Rutgers on Friday, Manthorpe matched her career-high with 16 kills to go with 27 assists and 12 digs.
All totaled, this is the sixth time in nine weeks that Manthorpe has been honored by the BIG EAST. She was named Player of the Week on Aug. 27.
Other weekly honors include: Louisville's Lola Arslanbekova being named BIG EAST Player of the Week and Connecticut's Marissa Prinzbach earning BIG EAST Freshman of the Week recognition. Joining Manthorpe on the Honor Roll are Connecticut's Immanuella Anagu, Marquette's Holly Mertens, Notre Dame's Maggie Brindock and USF's Erin Fairs.
The Pirates will return to action this Friday when they make the short trip to St. John's. Match time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. On Sunday, Seton Hall will remain on the road and take on Connecticut. The Pirates will return to Walsh Gym for their final two home matches of the 2012 season, Nov. 3 and 4. They will host Notre Dame and DePaul with both match times at 2:00 p.m.
