10/8/2012 12:00:00 AM | Men's Basketball
SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - For the first time since 2007, Midnight Madness will return to Seton Hall University's campus. A high-energy campus event to officially begin the 2012-13 men's and women's basketball seasons, Midnight Madness, set for Friday, Oct. 12, will introduce the Pirates and culminate with a GrooveBoston concert.
This immersive event, held in the Richard and Sheila Regan Fieldhouse, will begin with highlight videos and introductions of both the men's and women's basketball teams. GrooveBoston will then turn the Fieldhouse into a massive dance party.
The men's basketball team, led by junior Fuquan Edwin (Paterson, N.J.), opens the 2012-13 season vs. the University of Missouri - Kansas City. The Pirates are coming off one of their most successful campaigns in recent memory and will aspire to ride a young, athletic team to an NCAA berth this season.
The women's basketball team, led by senior Brittany Morris (Raleigh, N.C.), will look to take another step forward in the program's rebuilding process. Hall of Fame Head Coach Anne Donovan's squad will begin the 2012-13 campaign vs. NJIT.
Both openers will be part of a Nov. 9 double-header on campus in Walsh Gym. The women's game will be at 5:00 pm, with the men following at 7:00 pm.
A mobile dance club, GrooveBoston came to Seton Hall last spring and was widely regarded by students as one of the top events of the year. Now spreading across the country as part of their Viseral Tour, GrooveBoston has landed in South Orange again thanks to SHU Athletics, the Student Activities Board and the Office for University Advancement.
Midnight Madness is an event exclusive to Seton Hall students, and a limited number of tickets are still available http://shumidnightmadness2012.eventbrite.com/. Doors will open at 8:30 pm.
