WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - Seton Hall seniors Jordan Theodore (Englewood, N.J.) and Herb Pope (Aliquippa, Pa.) were named to the 2011-12 All-Met Division I First Team by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association on Thursday.
Theodore was one of the most improved players in the BIG EAST this season. A starter in all 34 games for the Pirates last season, he ranked ninth in the conference with 16.1 points per game, second with 6.6 assists per game and fifth shooting 82.4% from the free-throw line. An All-BIG EAST Second Team selection, Theodore was named to the BIG EAST's Weekly Honor Roll five times and broke Seton Hall's 49-year old, single-season record for assists. On Feb. 21, he scored a career-high 29 points in Seton Hall's thrilling upset of #9 Georgetown. Theodore has recorded five double-doubles this season and is one of just four Pirates all-time with over 1,200 career points and 500 career assists.
Pope will go down in history as one of the greatest frontcourt players to ever wear a Seton Hall uniform. This season, he averaged a double-double with a career-best 15.1 points per game and a BIG EAST second-best 10.4 rebounds per game. An All-BIG EAST Third Team selection, he ranked fourth in the conference in blocks and 12th in scoring. Pope finished the season as the BIG EAST's active career leader with 36 double-doubles, 17 of which were tallied last season. A starter in 33 games, he scored a career-high 32 points in the championship game of the Charleston Classic on Nov. 20 and was named BIG EAST Player of the Week for his efforts. He is one of only six Pirates all-time with more than 1,100 career points and 900 career rebounds, a feat accomplished in only three seasons.
Seton Hall will open the 2012-13 campaign with the University of Missouri - Kansas City on Friday, November 9, 2012. Season tickets are available by calling 973-275-HALL.
