Where Are They Now? Arturas Karnisovas

This is our first in a series of 5 questions with former Pirate student-athletes. We will feature players from all of our sports programs.
The first installment is with former men's basketball player, Arturas Karnisovas who played for the Pirates from 1990-1994. He scored over 1,500 points and helped lead the Pirates to two BIG EAST Tournament Championships. He is one of only two Pirates all-time to reach the NCAA Tournament in all four years of his collegiate career. Arturas was inducted into the Seton Hall Athletic Hall of Fame in 2008.
1. Where do you live now and what are you up to these days?
I still live in North Jersey with my wife Gina and two sons, Eric and Michael. Currently, I work for the Houston Rockets of the NBA as a Director of Scouting.
2. What is your favorite memory as a Pirate?
My favorite would be the two BIG EAST Tournament Championships, there is nothing like playing in MSG and winning it for your school. Of course, those many precious memories as a player are closely followed by the fact of meeting my wife at Seton Hall.
3. Do you still keep in touch with any of your former teammates and if so, who?
Yes, I stay in touch with Jerry Walker, Danny Hurley, Luther Wright and John Leahy. Once in a while I touch base with Adrian Griffin who works as an assistant coach for the Chicago Bulls. Just recently I heard from Assaf Barnea who played at Seton Hall in the 1990-91 season.
4. Do you still follow the Pirates and what are your thoughts on the program today?
I always try to go to as many games as I can, my kids love the games and the Prudential Center is a wonderful arena to watch a basketball game. Kevin Willard is doing a great job and I wish him and the team all the best this year.
5. I notice you are a Pirate Blue member, thank you for your support. Why do you support Pirate Blue and why do you think it's important to give back?
I support Pirate Blue because I think that it is an important part of Seton Hall Athletics. I am thankful to SHU for giving me an opportunity to succeed on the basketball court and in the classroom. The reason I support Pirate Blue is because as a former student-athlete I appreciate the demands that the athletics department faces and I recognize that those challenges cannot be met without the support of others.
