WGolf Set for 54 Holes at Yale

NEW HAVEN, CONN. - The Seton Hall women's golf team will return to the links with quick turnaround on Friday with the 2012 Yale Intercollegiate in New Haven, Conn.

The 54-hole event will take place over three days, Friday through Sunday, on the par-72, 6,000-yard Course at Yale.  The Pirates will be one of a talented field of 17 teams competing for the team title.

For Seton Hall, it will be the third of five tournaments this fall.  The Pirates have used a productive 2011 spring campaign to catapult them to success so far this season.  So far, Seton Hall has finished second by one stroke in both of its prior two tournaments. 

Seton Hall's success is due in large part to the terrific play of its younger members of the team.  Freshman Megan Tenhundfeld (Loveland, Ohio) became the first women's golfer in Seton Hall history to record top-10 finishes in her first two career tournaments.  Sophomore Ali Kruse (Overland Park, Kan.) became the second Seton Hall women's golfer ever to win an individual title, taking the St. John's Intercollegiate by one stroke earlier this week.

In only year three since the program's inception, the Pirates continue to improve dramatically.  Seton Hall's team scoring average following its rookie year was 340.83.  Last year, the Pirates were vastly improved across the board and finished with a 313.15 scoring average.  Through two tournaments this fall, Seton Hall has again shaved strokes off its team's scoring average and enters the Yale Intercollegiate with an impressive 308.80 per round average.

Its 298 in round two of the fall season-opening Buckell Invitational was the first time in program history that Seton Hall broke the 300 stroke barrier.
