
Aguilar, Pirates Surge in BIG EAST Second Round

OKATIE, S.C. – Sophomore Marta Aguilar (Casares Malaga, Spain) fired a 3-under-par, 69, in a BIG EAST Championship second round that saw the Seton Hall women's golf team improve by 19 strokes from yesterday. Aguilar shares the individual lead entering Monday's final round.
Despite nagging injuries, sweltering heat and a brief downpour, Aguilar wouldn't be denied on Sunday. The three-time BIG EAST Golfer of the Week tallied six birdies and nine pars for her ninth career sub-par round. Entering round three, Aguilar is 2-under-par with a 73-69-142 and is tied for the individual lead with Xavier's Madison Reemsnyder and St. John's Kelly Wu. Seton Hall has never had a women's golfer win the individual title.
As a team, Seton Hall saw a dramatic improvement on Sunday. The Pirates shaved off 19 strokes from their round on Saturday to finish with a 10-over-par, 298, its second-best single-round of the year. In round one, The Hall got off to a rough start, shooting a collective 13-over-par on the front nine alone. Today, the Pirates were just 2-over-par on the first nine holes.
Unfortunately for Seton Hall, all six of its opponents also saw significant improvement in round two. The Pirates remain in fifth place at 39-over-par with a 317-298-615. Butler leads The Hall by 11 strokes in fourth place. Xavier, seeking its seventh-straight BIG EAST title, again leads the field at just 10-over-par. The Musketeers have a four-stroke lead on second-place Georgetown.
Junior Renee Rane (New Delhi, India) only had one birdie, but she tallied 13 pars to fuel a 3-over-par, 75, a five-stroke improvement from round one. She was even-par on the back nine today. For the tournament, she's tied for 20th place with an 11-over-par, 80-75-155.
Freshman Isabella Stewart (Wicklow, Ireland) took the course by storm this morning, birdying three of the first four holes. She had an unconventional finish to her round, going birdie, double-bogey, birdie, bogey in her last four holes. In the end, she shaved off four strokes from yesterday's score with a 4-over-par, 76. For the tournament, she's one stroke behind Rane with a 12-over-par, 80-76-156.
Anne-Sofie Ekman (Copenhagen, Denmark) provided the Pirates with a fourth sub-80 round for the team score on Sunday. The senior closed out the penultimate round of her career with birdies on holes No. 17 and No. 18 to finish with a solid 6-over-par, 78. For the event, she's 18-over-par with an 84-78-162.
Junior Kasumi Tran (Swansea, Wales) shaved off three strokes from her first round score yesterday to finish with an 11-over-par, 83, on Sunday. Entering Monday's final round, she's 25-over-par with an 86-83-169.
Lara Todorovic (Belgrade, Serbia) has been consistent in her final collegiate tournament, carding her second-consecutive 12-over-par, 84, on Sunday. After 36 holes, she is 24-over-par with an 84-84-168.

THE COURSE
The club features three nine-hole courses. The competition will play the first nine holes on the Dogwood Course and the second nine on the Magnolia Course. Designing Callawassie Island's award-winning championship 27-hole course, Tom Fazio took advantage of the island's natural beauty to create a juxtaposition of visual drama and superb playability. Magnificent live oaks and magnolias, as well as freshwater ponds and the surrounding saltwater marsh, come into play on most holes. Inspiring vistas and abundant wildlife make nature part of the golf experience.
The 2026 BIG EAST Championship will be played on the Magnolia and Dogwood courses.
THE FIELD
The field will be limited to only the seven member schools of the BIG EAST Conference. Below are the teams in order of their national ranking.
Teams will play six golfers and count the four lowest scores per round.
THE STAKES
The BIG EAST will crown a team champion, which earns an automatic berth to the 2026 NCAA Championship. The individual champion also receives an NCAA Championship invitation.
