
Aguilar Just One Stroke Off Lead After BIG EAST Round 1

OKATIE, S.C. – Sophomore Marta Aguilar (Casares Malaga, Spain) shot a 1-over-par, 73, to fuel the Seton Hall women's golf team in round one of the BIG EAST Championship on Saturday.
Aguilar had four birdies and nine pars to power her round. She's currently tied for second place with Georgetown's Georgia Ruffolo after 18 holes. Xavier's Madison Reemsnyder leads the individual field at even-par.
As a team, The Hall shot a 29-over-par, 317, at Callawassie Island Golf Club in round one. The six-seeded Pirates were able to hop over Creighton for a fifth-place standing after 18 holes. Xavier, seeking its seventh consecutive BIG EAST title, is currently leads the team field at 13-over-par.
Junior Renee Rane (New Delhi, India) and freshman Isabella Stewart (Wicklow, Ireland) each carded an 8-over-par, 80. Rane overcame a rough start in which she was 5-over-par through the first four holes. She was only 3-over-par over the final 14 holes. Stewart had two birdies and six pars.
Seniors Anne-Sofie Ekman (Copenhagen, Denmark) and Lara Todorovic (Belgrade, Serbia) each shot a 12-over-par, 84. Ekman was only 4-over-par through the first 14 holes, but had a tough finish, going 8-over in holes No. 15 through No. 18. Todorovic had a stretch where she was 1-under par on holes No. 4 through No. 8, but struggled on the back nine, bogeying eight of the nine holes.
Rounding out the Seton Hall lineup, junior Kasumi Tran (Swansea, Wales) finished with a 14-over-par, 86. The junior finished strong, shooting only 2-over-par over the final five holes.

THE COURSE
The club features three nine-hole courses. The competition will play the first nine holes on the Dogwood Course and the second nine on the Magnolia Course. Designing Callawassie Island's award-winning championship 27-hole course, Tom Fazio took advantage of the island's natural beauty to create a juxtaposition of visual drama and superb playability. Magnificent live oaks and magnolias, as well as freshwater ponds and the surrounding saltwater marsh, come into play on most holes. Inspiring vistas and abundant wildlife make nature part of the golf experience.
The 2026 BIG EAST Championship will be played on the Magnolia and Dogwood courses.
THE FIELD
The field will be limited to only the seven member schools of the BIG EAST Conference. Below are the teams in order of their national ranking.
Teams will play six golfers and count the four lowest scores per round.
THE STAKES
The BIG EAST will crown a team champion, which earns an automatic berth to the 2026 NCAA Championship. The individual champion also receives an NCAA Championship invitation.
MEDIA
For the fourth straight year, GKLive.TV, will provide online coverage of the Championship. The broadcast is free.
TEE TIMES
The field will play one round (18 holes) over each day for three days. Competition on Saturday and Sunday will begin at 8:00 a.m. On Championship Monday, the action will begin at 8:30 a.m. Seton Hall will be paired with golfers from Butler in round two. Kasumi Tran will get The Hall started on the first tee at 8:54 a.m.
