
Volleyball Swept by Georgetown, 3-0

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - One day after picking up its first BIG EAST victory of the season, the Seton Hall women's volleyball team was swept by Georgetown, 3-0 (20-25, 20-25, 18-25), on Saturday.Sophomore Amanda Hansen (Pewaukee, Wis.) led the Pirates' offense with 10 kills. Senior Alyssa Warren (Joliet, Ill.) led the defense with a match-high 16 digs.
Seton Hall (7-10, 1-4) scored five of the first seven points to jump out to a 5-2 lead in set one, but Georgetown scored the next three points to tie the set. Trailing 22-16, the Pirates scored four straight points to close the gap to 22-20, but the Hoyas ended the set with three straight points to win, 25-20.
In set two, the Pirates started fast again, scoring four of the first five points, but Georgetown again rallied. Trailing 6-4, the Hoyas went on a 6-0 run to take a 10-6 advantage and never relinquished the lead. Seton Hall scored three straight to cut the Georgetown lead to 10-9, but the Hoyas scored four of the next five points to boost their advantage to 14-10. Hansen's kill made the score 14-11, but three points was the closest Seton Hall would get for the remainder of the set, eventually falling, 25-20.
Georgetown (8-10, 2-3) led set three from the start, scoring the first four points. Leading 9-7, Georgetown went on an 8-3 run to take a commanding 17-10 lead. A kill by Stacey Manthorpe (Merion Station, Pa.) cut the Hoya lead to 19-15, but Georgetown went on for a 25-18 set three victory to complete the three-set sweep.
The Pirates will return to action on Wednesday, October 16 when they travel to Brooklyn to take on LIU. Match time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
