BEDMINSTER, N.J. - Freshman Lloyd Jefferson Go (Guadalupe Cebu City, Philippines) fired a 3-under-par, 69, and is tied for the individual lead at the Pirates' own Barnabas Health Intercollegiate at Fiddler's Elbow Country Club. As a team, Seton Hall is currently in third place among a field of 15 teams.
Go is tied with Temple's Matthew Crescenzo, who also shot a 3-under-par, 69, in round one.
Collectively, the Pirates fired a 6-over-par, 294, in round one and trail the leader, Temple, by seven strokes entering Monday's final round. Minnesota is currently second following their 3-over-par, 291.
Despite sunny skies and mild temperatures for October, the field had to deal with pesky winds on Sunday, which elevated scores. Still, six individual golfers were able to shoot under par.
JT Harper (Pebble Beach, Calif.) is currently tied for seventh overall following an even-par, 72, in round one. The junior had a dominant afternoon, which would have been even more impressive had he not double-bogeyed his final hole of the afternoon.
Gary Dunne (Wicklow, Ireland) shot a 4-over-par, 76, in round one and is currently tied for 23rd place, while junior Derrick Kim (New City, N.Y.) was one stroke behind with a 5-over-par, 77.
Cory Wilson (Newton, N.J.) rounded out the Pirates' team scores with a 7-over-par, 79.
This is the fifth year in the tournament's newest iteration and the fourth time it'll be at the Pirate's home course at Fidder's Elbow. Last year, the event was held at Chatham's Fairmount Country Club.
A field of 15 teams is taking on the par-72, 7,014-yard River Course at Fiddler's Elbow. In addition to host Seton Hall, participating schools include Fairleigh Dickinson, Fordham, Iona, LaSalle, LIU-Brooklyn, Manhattan, Monmouth, Robert Morris, Saint Peter's, St. Francis (N.Y.), St. Francis (Pa.), Temple, Minnesota and Wagner.
The Barnabas Health Intercollegiate is a 36-hole stroke play event with 18 holes being played per day. The teams will start on Sunday with a shotgun at 1:00 p.m. Play on Monday will commence at 8:30 a.m. Complete results will be available once all teams have completed their round each day at www.SHUpirates.com and Golfstat.com.
