MXC Competes at Mid-Atlantic Championships

STATE COLLEGE, PA. - The Seton Hall men's cross country team returned to competition on Friday, placing 23rd at the 10K NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship hosted by Penn State.
The Nittany Lions Matt Fischer edged BIG EAST champion Patrick Tiernan of Villanova by four seconds to take the individual title but the Wildcats captured the team championship.
Sophomore Victor Ricci (Narragansett, R.I.) paced the Pirates on the day, clocking a time of33:40.
The second group of finishers succeeded in running in a pack as the next five Seton Hall runners across the line were just eight places apart.
Freshman Bryant Cordova (Elizabeth, N.J.) was second for The Hall with a 34:09 mark. Senior John Walsh (Deltaville, Va.) continued to be one of the squad's most consistent performers, ranking third with a time of 34:26.
Freshman Jeff Larson (Yucca Valley, Calif.) reached the line just two seconds later while sophomore Cameron Quisenberry (Owensboro, Ky.) closed out a scoring group that included four underclassmen with a 35:12 effort.
In the regional competition, another BIG EAST team in Georgetown finished as the runner-up.
The Pirates close the 2014 season next Saturday, November 22 at the IC4A Championships. Start-time is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. from Van Cortlandt Park.
