SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - Fuquan Edwin (Paterson, N.J.) garnered BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll recognition Monday after averaging 19.0 points, 4.5 steals and 4.5 rebounds in Seton Hall's two games last week. It is the third straight week and the fifth time this season that Edwin was recognized on the conference's honor roll.
The 6-foot-6 senior guard helped power the Pirates to their third BIG EAST road victory on Saturday recording team-highs with 18 points and six rebounds in a 68-60 triumph at Xavier. Edwin buried three 3-pointers, handed out three assists and made three steals as The Hall snapped a 13-game home win streak for the Musketeers.
Earlier in the week, Edwin notched his fourth 20-point effort of the season against Butler at the Prudential Center. He sank 4-of-7 (.571) 3-point attempts, while swiping six steals in the Pirates first ever meeting with the Bulldogs.
Creighton's Doug McDermott was named Player of the Week and DePaul's R.J. Curington was the Rookie of the Week. Markel Starks (Georgetown), Bryce Cotton (Providence), D'Angelo Harrison (St. John's) and James Bell (Villanova) joined Edwin on the BIG EAST Honor Roll.
The Hall travels to #9/#9 Villanova on Friday before returning to the Prudential Center for a three-game homestand when the Pirates host Marquette (2/11), St. John's (2/13) and Georgetown (2/20). Tip off with the Wildcats is set for 7 p.m. at The Pavilion. FOX Sports 1 has the national telecast. The Seton Hall broadcast team of Gary Cohen and Dave Popkin can be heard on 970 AM (WNYM).
