Team Walker Learning Center Grand Opening
JERSEY CITY, N.J. - Team Walker - a community outreach program co-founded and directed by former Seton hall basketball standout Jerry Walker - is set to unveil a brand-new learning center on Saturday, May 17.
The grand opening celebration is open to the public and will be held at the new facility on 373 Communipaw Avenue in Jersey City from 1-3 p.m.
A Seton Hall Athletics Hall of Famer and Jersey City native, Jerry Walker has spent the better part of the last two decades serving youth in his hometown through Team Walker initiatives. The new learning center will augment and enhance an already extensive set of programs aimed at fostering an environment where participants can thrive.
At the core of Team Walker's mission is a desire to empower youth to find success. Through a collection of academic and athletic offerings, the structured approach expands horizons and has led to Team Walker being lauded as a tremendously positive presence in the community. Born out of a single summer basketball tournament and the vision of Jerry and Jasper Walker, Team Walker has transformed into one of the most impactful service organizations in the state; serving over 500 participants year-round through after-school and summer camp programs.
