Schroeder, Seton Hall Down DePaul in Four Sets

CHICAGO, ILL. - Junior Danielle Schroeder (Chicago, Ill.) scored a match-high 15 kills as the Seton Hall women's volleyball team downed DePaul in four sets, 3-1 (25-23, 20-25, 25-18, 25-18), on Saturday.
DePaul scored eight of the first 11 points of the match, but the Pirates charged back and used an 8-1 run to take an 11-9 advantage in set one. Although the set remained close, the Seton Hall never trailed again and won, 25-23, to take a 1-0 match lead.
Seton Hall (11-12, 5-6) led 17-15 in set two, but DePaul scored three straight and never trailed again. The Blue Demons scored four of the last five points of the set to win, 25-20, and tie the match at one set apiece.
Turning Point:
The Blue Demons started quickly in set three, jumping out to a 7-3 lead, but the Pirates responded with a 10-2 run to take a 13-9 advantage. DePaul cut the Pirate lead to 17-16, but The Hall finished the set with an 8-2 run to win, 25-18, and take a 2-1 match lead. Seton Hall's defense held DePaul to a -.083 attack percentage in set four, while connecting at a .250 clip itself.
The Pirates scored the first three points of set four, and never trailed. Leading 16-14, The Hall scored five straight points to take a commanding 21-14 advantage, in route to a 25-18 set four victory.
Notes & Numbers:
- Junior Tessa Fournier (Redondo Beach, Calif.) finished with a match-high 28 digs. She registered at least 20 digs for the 11th time this season and the 26th time of her career.
- Senior Amanda Hansen (Pewaukee, Wis.) recorded 11 kills and just one attack error for a .435 attack percentage.
- With two blocks, Hansen moved past former Pirate Silvia Watson for third place on Seton Hall's career blocks list with 465.
- Schroeder tallied at least 15 kills for the fifth time this season and the seventh time in her career.
- Freshman Sophia Coffey (Sierra Madre, Calif.) had a strong all-around match with 36 assists, six digs and seven kills.
- Seton Hall improves to 2-3 in four-set matches.
- Seton Hall improves to a perfect 14-0 all-time against DePaul.

Seton Hall will return to action on Friday, October 30 when it hosts Georgetown at Walsh Gym. Match time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET.
