Hansen Fuels Pirates' Sweep of Butler

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. -- Senior Amanda Hansen (Pewaukee, Wis.) recorded a match-high 18 kills as the Seton Hall women's volleyball team swept Butler, 3-0 (25-22, 25-15, 25-18), on Friday.
Hansen recorded her 18 kills with just one attack error in 34 attempts for an impressive .500 attack percentage. She also blocked five shots and served three aces in a strong all-around match. Freshman Sophia Coffey (Sierra Madre, Calif.) registered a double-double with a match-high 33 assists to go with a team-high 11 digs.
Seton Hall (9-9, 3-3) never trailed in the first set, scoring the first five points and leading throughout. The Pirates led by as many as seven points, but the Bulldogs cut the lead to just one, 21-20, before The Hall took control again late, winning 25-22.
The Pirates dominated the second set, recording 15 kills with just two attack errors for a .464 team attack percentage. Trailing 9-8, Seton Hall went on a 9-2 run to take a 17-11 advantage, and never looked back. The Hall won set two in convincing fashion, 25-15.
Tied at 10 in set three, the Pirates again went on a significant run, 7-1, to jump ahead, 17-11. Leading 22-18, Seton Hall scored the final three points of the match, with Hansen fittingly providing the 25th point of the set, and final point of the match, with a kill. Hansen collected half of her 18 kills in set three alone.
Notes & Numbers:
- With 18 kills tonight, Hansen passed Laura Romeika for ninth on Seton Hall's career kills list. She currently has 966. Perette Arrington is eighth on the list with 1,024.
- It's Hansen's third match of at least 15 kills this season and the fifth of her career.
- Coffey's double-double is her team-leading sixth of the season.
- Seton Hall improves to 9-1 when winning the first set.
- Seton Hall improves to 5-5 in three-set matches this season.
- Seton Hall improves to 2-3 all-time against Butler.
