Gulli Strike Not Enough in Opener vs. William & Mary

HARRISONBURG, VA. – Senior Amanda Gulli (Toms River, N.J.) converted from the penalty spot in the second half but the Seton Hall women's soccer team dropped its season opener against William & Mary, 5-1, in the first of two matches at the JMU Invitational.
Gulli, the Pirates' leading scorer a year ago, narrowed the gap to two with the conversion but the Tribe answered with a pair of goals soon after to account for the final score line. William and Mary took a 2-0 advantage into halftime after striking early and finished with a 26-to-5 edge in shot attempts.
Turning Point
William and Mary senior Samantha Cordum collected a through ball in the area and opened the scoring just 84 seconds into the match; putting the Tribe on the front foot for the rest of the afternoon.
